This research develops a Japanese-language AI tutor for introductory university programming. The project was awarded KAKENHI funding in the Early-Career Scientists category and is designed to examine effects on learning outcomes, self-efficacy, and instructor workload.
The current MVP implements a Streamlit question interface, mock responses for functional testing, comprehension feedback, and anonymous interaction logs in SQLite. Integration with a large language model and evaluation of learning outcomes remain future work.
